Dad is a dope head
In early 2014, we took on 3 siblings… 2 brothers ( H aged 10 and J aged 8 ) as well as their 6 year old sister G.
They lived with their father and stepmother.
The father was a heavy meth user and the stepmother had been to prison on drug charges but was trying to get clean. In addition to the father’s children, they had 2 common children C ( 2 years ) and H ( 1 year ).
On several occasions, the father and stepmother would get into a big fight and then the
stepmother and the two youngest children would stay with my son and I, sometimes for up to 2 or 3 weeks before they would move back.
During the times I would pick up H, J and G for church on Sunday morning, I would find them camped out in a pup tent across the street from their house. Their father would lock the doors to the house on Friday evening and sometimes not let them back in the house until Sunday evening when I dropped them back off.
At the time, there were 3 known registered sex offenders in that neighborhood
During the more than 3 years I had them, the home situation deteriorated to the point that the stepmother went back to prison and the father simply shipped all the children off to various friends and relatives across the state. He then resumed his bachelor drug-filled life.
The last I heard, some of the children are with an aunt in Galveston and others in Weatherford.
I do not hold much hope for the future of any of those five children but do pray that they remember some of the teachings they received from us. With God, all things are possible.
